Degenerative Disc Disease

Degenerative disc disease is "wear and tear" on the discs that act as cushions between each spinal vertebra. This condition becomes more common with age and can be associated with more strenuous activity. This condition can be related to pain, numbness and weakness, but it is important to know that having degenerative discs does not mean you will have pain. Many people have this condition but have no significant symptoms. The body is resilient and able to heal.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:

  • Pain
  • Numbness
  • Stiffness
  • Weakness

*DDD may be related to repetitive motion or strenuous activity*
