Hip Pointer

A hip pointer is a bruise to the iliac crest, the large, wide bone on the side of your hip. This is usually caused by a direct blow to the side of the hip and is usually seen in contact sports, such as football, or after a fall.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:

  • Pain
  • Tenderness
  • Decreased strength
  • Temporary discomfort with weight bearing

HOW CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP?

While rest is important after injuries like this, it is important not to limit activity too much. On top of helping you improve symptoms, such as decreased range of motion and strength, PT can help relieve pain in early stages and give advice on how to safely return to normal activities and sports.
