Carpal Tunnel Surgical Release

If carpal tunnel symptoms do not improve, a surgical release of the carpal tunnel itself is sometimes required to relieve symptoms. During this procedure, a surgeon releases the carpal tunnel and soft tissues surrounding it, which can help relieve pressure on nerves.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS:

After carpal tunnel release, restrictions in range of motion and strength of the wrist and hand are common.

HOW CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP?

PT can help by gradually improving these deficits through manual therapy, stretching and functional strengthening to help you return to normal daily and work tasks.
