Jessica Smith

Jessica graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee in 2021. Prior to that, she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University, where she also minored in Theatre Dance. Throughout graduate school, she has been fortunate to have worked with a variety of patients, including professional dancers, athletes, pre-professional dancers, recreational dancers, gymnasts, vestibular patients, and general neurologic and orthopedic patients. Jessica further complemented her graduate studies by completing multiple research projects involving ballet dancers. These studies were recently published and were presented at both the Combined Sections Meeting and the Performing Arts Medicine Association meeting in 2021.In addition to these presentations, she also received the prestigious Graduate Student Scholarship Award for her academic and research efforts from Belmont University.

Her experiences have led her to develop a treatment approach that is largely biomechanical, focusing on how people move in order to find the root cause of their pain. She also specializes in other forms of pain management and patient treatment, including dry needling and manual therapy. Her experiences have instilled a passion for working alongside dancers and athletes to aid in their recovery and return to the sports they love! She is especially looking forward to further fostering this mentality and these relationships in the newly established dance physical therapy program at Peak. On the rare occasions you don’t see Jessica in the clinic, you might spot her playing tennis, reading at the park, or trying out new coffee shops!
